Glebe Public School is a vibrant, community based school. Our committed teachers and support staff provide an exciting range of programs, tailored specifically to meet students’ needs. Staff are supported in continually upgrading their skills and knowledge, and our commitment to small class sizes (maximum 25) ensure that students learn in a supportive environment.
Students are encouraged to become articulate, confident and successful leaders. Our Leadership Program provides students with the resilience, skills and knowledge to succeed in life. We are committed to innovative student welfare programs and positive discipline procedures. Our students develop a strong sense of Values and learn to care for each other, their community and their environment
We aim to provide a challenging and balanced curriculum, based on students’ individual needs. The school is fortunate to be well resourced to support the teaching of all Key Learning Area subjects. These are:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science and Technology
- Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE)
- Creative Arts
- Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)
As well:
- students learn in small class groups, with the assistance of a Schools Support Learning Officer (per class) and two Aboriginal In-Class Tutors
- Learning Support Programs and Reading Recovery are provided for students needing additional support
- the school employs specialist Technology, Visual Arts, Critical Literacy and Student Leadership teachers as part of our RFF (release from face to face) program
- we have a specialist English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher to support students from language backgrounds other than English
- the school runs a program called the WINANGGAAY Program, which trains Aboriginal parents and community members to assist students with Literacy and Numeracy, either individually, in small groups or in the classroom
- SRE (Special Religious Education).
